ආනන්ද විද්යාලයීය තොරතුරු හා සන්නිවේදන තාක්ෂණ සංගමයAnanda College Information and Communication Technology Society
Our Vision – Glorifying ICT for years to come.
Our Mission – To retain the throne of school based ICT.
What started in the 80’s as the Ananda College Computer Club, was a small club for those interested in computers. But as time passed by, the club was transformed, slowly but surely, into one of the leaders in the school computer arena, through the hard work and dedication of it’s members.
In 2006, in keeping with the requirements of our fast paced world, it became apparent that change was needed, Undergoing a phoenix rebirth, the society was transformed into ACICTS – Ananda College Information and Communication Technology Society, which rose from the ashes as majestic as ever. The change was made necessary by the fact that the society took an interest in all things related to ICT not just computing.
Currently the ACICTS is marching bravely onwards towards the victory of the battle of ones and zeros. The battle may be long and hard, but in the end it will surely be won, for that is the way of Anandians.

Tracing the history of the ICT Society is not an easy task because the society hasn’t experienced a stable past throughout its lifetime. The first ever trace to the old Computer Club is found in the Centenary Souvenier published in 1986, as a faded photograph.
The evidence from the photograph suggests that the Computer Lab was situated in the Buddha Jayanthi Building, with few Commodor-64 machines.
A new Computer Lab was opened ceremoniously as Late Prof. V. K. Samaranayake as the Chief Guest. That was in 1993. At this time the Teacher-In-Charge was Mr. Neththikumara, who held that post until 2005. Throughout that time he has
guided the computer club into exhibitions, computer programming training, and into various competitions. As a result Anandians got the chance to win the National Schools Software Competition in 1991 and 1993. For the first time Anandians represented Sri Lanka in the Computer Field in the International Schools’ Software Competition and the International Olympiad in Informatics.
In 2006 The Information and Communication Technology Society was formed and has regained its possition rapidly. They won the National Schools’ Software Competition for the first time in 13 years, in 2006, and still keeps the winning spree at 2008 becoming the first school to win the competition for three years in a row. And tied the Royal College for the maximum number of wins (5). Students again started winning each and every competition and representing Sri Lanka at various international Levels. Notable are, Ganindu Nanayakkara who won the Young Computer Scientist in 2006 onwards, and Rajith and Yasith Vidanaarachchi who contributed by winning the National Schools’ Software Competition.
